Are you a U.S. Board Certified Pediatrician interested in coming to Ontario to practice?
The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) has streamlined the pathway to independent practice for select situations
If you have:
- An acceptable medical doctorate (MD) degree
- Completed pediatrics residency in the US
- Completed an acceptable qualifying exam (e.g. USMLE)
- An independent license in the U.S. (or are eligible for one)
AND hold U.S. Board Certification
You are eligible to apply for and receive a restricted certificate of registration for independent practice (unsupervised) in your scope in Ontario.
N.B. If you do NOT hold U.S. American Board of Pediatrics certification, a pathway ‘C’ is also available with supervised practice for 3 years. Should you write your ABP during this time, you become eligible to apply as above.
